Prof. Simon Godfrey MD, PhD, FRCP, FRCPCH (Chairman). Prof. Godfrey is Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics at the Hadassah-Hebrew University in Jerusalem. His major clinical interests are in pediatric pulmonology and asthma although he also has a background in adult pulmonology. His main research interests are in pediatric pulmonary physiology, infant lung function, asthma, bronchial provocation and the application of novel investigative techniques for the diagnosis and management of pediatric pulmonary diseases. Prof. Godfrey has published over 190 original papers, 16 books and contributed numerous chapters to other books, in addition to written editorials on pediatric pulmonary topics. |
Prof. Lynn Taussig (Member). Recently retired from his position as President and CEO of National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. National Jewish is the only medical and research center in the United States devoted entirely to respiratory, allergic and immune system diseases including asthma. He developed one of the best training programs for pediatric pulmonologists in the US. He currently chairs the steering committee for the National Institutes of Health Childhood Asthma Research and Education (CARE) network. His clinical interests have focused on childhood asthma and cystic fibrosis, and his research has concentrated on the childhood origins of chronic lung disease, especially asthma; lung growth and development as related to health and disease; and cystic fibrosis. |
Prof. Lewis (Lew) J Smith (Member) Prof. Smith is the Associate Vice President of Research at Northwestern University. He graduated from the University of Rochester, MD in 1973 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine (1976) and Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (1978). His clinical and research interests focus on asthma and the effects of diet on asthma with particular emphasis on the effects of dietary antioxidants and soy isoflavones and asthma. |
